Your Super Life
Published: July 7, 2011

By Linda Kay Silva

I ride a Harley with flames on the tank and the saddlebags. While I never wanted flames painted on a Harley, I did cut and paste a photo of one to my vision board four years ago. Recently, when I pulled that vision board out from behind the closet door, I was amazed at all of the things that had come true. It was then that I realized that the Law of Attraction really works. So I decided to test the theory and had my 17-year-old daughter buy into the notion as well. She was a dancer on the dance team and when they were all sitting around in a room waiting to hear which of them had made the state team, all of the girls, as teenage girls will do, were bemoaning why they were not going to make it.  Sunnie stood up and said, "With that kind of stinkin' thinkin' you all will get to be right. I have seen myself over and over being called to the stage and I know in my heart I'm going to make the state team.

"She was the only one on her team that year who made it on the state team. At this point, my entire family realized the incredible power of our thoughts.

Look around you. Every single thing in your home made by people was a thought first. The Internet was a thought first. Open heart surgery was a thought first. Putting a man on the moon was a thought first. Every great thing, and every little thing, came from someone's mind first. If you can acknowledge that and harness that power in your own life, think of the mountains you can move! Go ahead. Look around. Everything made by people came from somebody's thoughts first. Are your thoughts any less powerful? No, they are not. Your thoughts create…just like Henry Ford's thoughts created cars. You have that power as well. This is the first area we are going to explore in an effort to help everyone to step out of stinkin' thinkin' and into the best life you can live.

I wanted to live my best live. Who doesn't? Once I began seeing the benefits of retraining my brain to put out positive energy, I decided to share this with everyone on an internet radio show that met twice a week. In the six months that I did the show, I was astounded by the incredible changes among my viewers. One woman wanted to open her own catering business, and did. One gentleman wanted to write a novel, and did. More than a handful of viewers wished to get rid of the negative people in their lives who were dragging them down instead of lifting them up, and they did. They began to see the Law of Attraction in action. In short, the LOA is the scientific principle that like attracts like. It is not a woo woo notion created by New Age believers (though many of them have been practicing it for ages). It is the principle that can quite quickly change your life, and because I believe in it so strongly and have seen so many people's lives turn around because of it, I want to share with you. It is more than just the power of positive thinking. The Law of Attraction is about how you comport yourself in a world filled with fear, hate, anger, and negativity. It is about living as if everything you wanted was within arms' reach. It is about the kind of self-talk you have with yourself on a daily basis. It is about being the change you want to see in the world. It is about being the hero in your own life story.

When I started sending out my first novel, Taken by Storm, I constantly visualized the phone call I would eventually receive from someone saying they wanted to publish my book.  I would replay this conversation in the car, in the shower, and when I was jogging. I had so much faith this would happen that I wrote the sequel, and then the next, and the next. I believed even as the stack of rejection letters rose to almost 12 inches thick. Still, I kept sending that manuscript out and I kept replaying that phone conversation in my head. Well, I finally received that phone call, and I have been writing ever since (my 13th book will be published in August). It is more than just believing in something, it is also acting on that belief that can change our lives. Dreaming is one thing…taking one step on that path is what makes dreams come true.  My dreams keep coming true, and I want to help yours come true as well...and they can. You just have to start clearing out some garbage first.

To be able to do that, the first step is to take a look at the amount of negativity in your life and where that comes from. Almost everyone has heard the term "garbage in, garbage out." As we take this journey together, we will be examining how much "garbage in" is happening that is prohibiting you from experiencing your best life. What are you attracting to your world by virtue of your thoughts? What is happening around you in all areas of your life that could be changed by getting rid of stinkin' thinkin'? If you could change the value of your relationships, your job satisfaction, or the overall quality of your life just by tweaking the way you look at things, why wouldn't you do it?

I say… let's do it.

Next week…how to rid ourselves of stinkin' thinkin' on our way to your best life.

Linda Kay Silva is the author of three different series, a literature professor, an avid traveler, and when she isn't spanking someone in tennis can be found astride her 2003 Harley Dyna named Lucky. LOL. We like spanking.
