Two kissers do their part for the wider acceptance of public affection amongst same-sex couples. Just shy of 100 kissers gathered in Union Square Park last Saturday morning, in support of a nationwide “kiss-in” organized locally by Anna Conda and Queerer Nation. The LGBT community, which is still stinging from the defeat of Prop 8 and the role played by the Morman Church in repealing same-sex marriage in California, has recently experienced an increase in the harrassment and arrest of those showing public affection, in a number of cities nationwide, including at a park owned by the Morman Church in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The “kiss-in” also served notice to opponents of same-sex public affection, that the LGBT community would not continue to put up with such harrassment and to just “kiss-off.”
