In a stellar, balls out competition, Buck Naked won the solo king title at the 11th annual SF Drag King Contest. Contrary to his name, Buck executed a dapper persona, flawlessly lipsynching a classy tune ,“This business of Love” complete with two stunning back-up dancers.

The Slickk Bois from Sacramento won the title for best troupe with their thought provoking and well-choreographed medley which included Violent Femmes “Add it up”.
Judges Alotta Boutte, Lynnee Breedlove, Shelly Mars and Kielbasia said they had a tough time choosing the winners from the diverse group of talented contestants.
The DNA lounge was packed on Thursday night and the audience was dressed to impress.

Pepperspray’s drummer had broken his ankle that morning in a motorcycle accident, but Jordan L’Moore and Precious Moments, aka porn star Michael Soldier, insisted the show must go on. Their lyrics,  “It takes balls to be a woman, I must be nuts to be a man,” set the tone for the evening, as back-up dancers carrying huge blue and pink balls descended upon the stage for the opening number.

Handsome and talented Fudgie Frottage, MC for the evening, then took the mic and belted out more appropriate lyrics: “cover me with facial hair and don’t forget to pack... “  to the tune of Blondie’s “Call Me,” but was quickly interrupted by vivacious Queen Kielbasia, who presented him with a proclamation declaring Aug. 17, 2006 Drag King Day in San Francisco by Supervisor Tom Ammiano and the City of San Francisco. Kielbasia read a selection from the proclamation: “Whereas, Drag King Day recognizes the creative and stellar talents of San Francisco’s Drag King community and honors the vast variety of genders whose art inspires us; and reflect the beauty, wit, and pride of our great City...”

Highlights of the show included Citizen Kings winning first runner-up troupe for their two-steppin’ cornholin’ version of  “XXL” and  Afro Disiak, FT. Draagon & Eusebia, second runner-up troupe, performed an absolutely fantastic live version of “Goldigga.” FT Draagon, has an amazing set of pipes—next place we expect to see him would be winning American Idol!!

Newcomer Seimen Marcus, the gayest contestant of the evening, lipsynched to “Baby Got Back” joined by some well-endowed (junk in the trunk) dancers from The Lusty Lady.

A three piece band who entered, El Mariachi Libre, performed “Crazy” by Gnarles Barkley, complete with gala suits and sombreros.

L. Ron Hubby was awarded “best costume” by the judges for his “Monster of Love” number that is best described as watching the Muppet Show on acid.
Shelly Mars, aka Martin, the Grand Daddy of Drag Kings, performed a hysterical parody of male bravado complete with banana and foaming spillage from a bottle of beer.

Jay Walker, last year’s solo winner and The Momma’s Boyz, last year’s troupe winners graced the stage and wowed the crowd.

The beautiful burlesque troupe, Twilight Vixen Revue, outdid themselves while the judges deliberated going from tuxedo clad hotties to fan dancing nudies. Choreographer Cherry Lix is truly one of the most talented gals in town.

The 11th annual SF Drag King Contest had everything from asses to angels —cudos to all who participated in the event which raised money for PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support)!!
